Remember that it is also what your booth says not just how it looks. Some booths are beautiful but they are high in form and low in function. Make sure your booth design is practical for your trade show objectives. For example, does it make them want to enter the booth? Does your copy have compelling reasons why they should stop and ask questions?
Form and function, always a balance, remember what side of the scale you want to be on.

The companies pulling out of trade show will be back in a couple years when they find out that nobody knows of them and sales have dropped. Trade show are important for a companies survival.

The trade show industry has been impacted by the recession over the last year but I fully expect that things will return to normal. Why? Because trade shows have been going on forever. When I finished college I bought a one way ticket to Bangkok, stopping along the way in Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines etc. I made my way into Nepal and made a quick decision to trek alone to Mt Everett. About 10 days into the trek I reach a place called Namche Bazarr. Each Saturday, as they have been doing for centuries, Serpans come in from all around with their goods and wares so as to be apart of what is in effect a trade show. As a credentialed secondary History Teacher from California, I tend to think that history is a powerful force. Trade Shows and the people to people interaction that they provide will be around long after we're gone.

Interesting - just had a prospect say that they did not want to spend $15K for a 20x20 TURNKEY rental - that it was TOO much! This price included renting the exhibit - having it setup and taken down (Chicago only show) - and some graphics.

Honestly - to get a unique rental of this caliber - do you think this so too much?

In a similar vein, we see that the country of origin of the exhibitor also plays a role in how they approach customers on their booth ..... and other competitors booths !
We had the misfortune at NPE 09 for the organizers to drop a late-comer competitor on our doorstep. After 3 years of planning our visitor lists we had to watch an Italian company send thier sales people down the aisle and catch every single visitor to our booth, regardless of wether we had finished our discussions with them, a practice deemed illegal by the show organizers. What was done about it ? Jack. Perhaps the recent threatened change of venue and changes of Chairmanship at the SPI may make a difference.

Hi all. I thought I might share this bit of information. I recently used trade show models at my last expo. What a great asset. They brought in the crowds and created hundreds of new leads. Great to work with and friendly as well as intelligent. Heres a link to the company I used who were also great to work with. Definitely a company you should work with.
